In The Mail #4

Posted by Wendy Ewurum  |  at  12:44 PM

I'm cutting my mail post very short today and I know I haven't posted one of these in a while but I really want to share with you the New  Year wishes of my favourite writer. If you have been following or known me since my days of frequent posting at my social blog: Fabulosity Nouveau, then you know of my unhealthy obsession with this specific writer. If not, no worries, for the A-Z Challenge I mean to dedicate at least a week of my blogging to him and his work.

So without further ado, here are some of the book review requests I received during December. I thank the authors and publishers for their requests.

My New Year Wish

May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.

...I hope you will have a wonderful year, that you'll dream dangerously and outrageously, that you'll make something that didn't exist before you made it, that you will be loved and that you will be liked, and that you will have people to love and to like in return. And, most importantly (because I think there should be more kindness and more wisdom in the world right now), that you will, when you need to be, be wise, and that you will always be kind.

And for this year, my wish for each of us is small and very simple.
And it's this.
I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something.

So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.

Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it.

Make your mistakes, next year and forever.

About the Author

Most know me as the author to Fabulosity Reads and in actual fact, that is the previous name of this blog. I have since then moved my books to a Wordpress self-hosted blog so that I can have a place to show a different side of me which I am equally passionate about and that is marketing and personal development. I hope you will love being here, watching me grow as I share and learn. My highest hope is that we will grown and learn together in all disciplines affecting our lives. I'd LUUURRRVE to hear from you, so don't be shy...

  1. There are a fair few books in there Wendy! I hope you have a great time reading your way through them.

I love the fact that people are encouraged to make mistakes. If we don't do things because we are worried about that very fact, then we could have missed something amazing.

    Have a wonderful new year.

  2. I finally came to the conclusion years ago that it's OK to make mistakes, as long as I learn from them and don't repeat them. (And there have been some toe-curling ones.) So far, so good :-))

Some very intriguing book covers there!

  3. Great advice - we should always take risks because every time we withdraw from life we die a little. We were made to live.

P.S. I'm a fan of Neil Gaiman, also.

  4. Rebecca I found out last year that some mistakes can be very costly. But to not have done it would have meant forever wondering, what if. At least now I know that that's not it.

YAy Amy, you have awesone taste in writers.

Li, now you have me thinking of my toe curlers too...LOL

  8. LOL....Lydia you're so funny.

Nicki funny i jus wrote on facebook that there is one book I really didn't fall inlove with, Smoke and Mirrors but that never stopped me from spending loads of my money on audio and hardcovers of his other books. I'm a die hard one.
